I don’t know yet what is going on in your life that has brought you to my site, but you are very welcome.
I’m Monika – an accredited Gestalt psychotherapist with over two decades of experience across the NHS, voluntary sector, and private practice. I work with people who may be struggling to come to terms with trauma, experiencing anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, and that overwhelming sense of being stuck—knowing something needs to change but not knowing where to start.

20+ years helping people move from stuck to strong

My clients often tell me they’ve tried to “sort themselves out” but keep coming up against the same stumbling blocks. What makes therapy with me different is that we don’t just talk about problems—we explore what’s keeping you stuck and together we build practical ways forward that actually fit your life.
What you can expect from working with me
A genuine partnership – I don’t prescribe solutions or tell you what to do. I ask questions that help you uncover your own answers. Clients often discover insights they’d only sensed but hadn’t named—about themselves, their relationships, and come to see patterns of thinking and behaviour they didn’t realise were holding them back.
Work at your pace – Some people need short-term support around a specific issue. Others benefit from deeper, longer-term work. I match the therapy to what you actually need, not a predetermined program.
Real, sustainable change – My approach (Gestalt therapy) focuses on noticing what’s happening right now—your thoughts, feelings, reactions—and understanding how past experiences show up in your present. The process unfolds experientially and the gentle, ongoing attention builds your self-awareness and increases your capacity to choose how to respond, rather than feeling controlled by old patterns.
We work together – with curiosity and kindness to increase your self-knowledge, self-esteem, self-confidence, and sense of worth to support your natural growth.
What changes for my clients
People come to me feeling lost, overwhelmed, anxious, stuck or uncertain. Over time, they report:
- Sleeping better and managing stress without constant panic
- Speaking up for their needs in relationships and at work
- Making decisions with more confidence and less self-questioning
- Breaking behaviour cycles they thought they’d always be trapped in
- Feeling more like themselves again—or discovering who they actually are
Change often starts in a small way—a moment of clarity where overwhelm gives way to clearer thinking. Then it builds from there. And if you slip back (we all can sometimes) you’ll have practical tools to make sure you recover more quickly and go forward again. Self confidence grows as self doubt diminishes.

Issues I work with
I work with people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including:
- Believing you’re not good enough or feeling like a fraud
- Being caught in cycles of self-blame, shame, and negative self-talk
- Perfectionism and fear of making mistakes
- Always pleasing others while neglecting your own needs
- Feeling emotionally numb or disconnected
- Relationship struggles and communication difficulties
Or perhaps you just know “something’s not quite right” but can’t pinpoint what it is.

Why my experience matters
Change is a continual, organically unfolding process. To experience this safely, you need to be in a therapeutically safe environment, with an experienced therapist.
I’m qualified as both a counsellor and psychotherapist, and my additional in-depth training means I can work at a deeper level when needed. My 20+ years across different settings—including the NHS—means I’ve worked with a wide range of issues and know when and how to adapt my approach.
Working in private practice now gives me the flexibility to offer the open-ended, longer-term therapy that some clients need for sustainable change, without the time constraints of other settings.
How we work together
My standard fee is £75 for a one-hour session.
I offer face-to-face, online video, and telephone sessions from my private therapy room in the village of Goxhill in North Lincolnshire.
